From the Applicant

What I intend to study...

This program is not just a course of study for me it – is a pathway to becoming an educator, innovator, and positive force for change.

My curiosity about how computers function and how digital tools can simplify life began in high school, where I took a basic computer course. That experience introduced me to Microsoft Office, safe internet practices, and the foundations of programming, which sparked a deeper interest in Information Technology (IT).

What makes IT so appealing is that it is both a practical and creative field. It offers opportunities to build systems, solve problems, analyze data, secure information and support growth in all sectors. I am particularly interesting areas such as cybersecurity, programming, and computer networks. These fields excite me not only because they are dynamically and globally relevant, but also because they offer the tools to drive meaningful change.

Combining this with my passion for teaching, I see the Bachelor of Education in Information and Technology as the perfect program. It will equip me with both technical skills and effective teaching strategies, enabling me to educate others, especially in underserved communities. I believe technology can bridge gaps in education and healthcare, and I am determined to use my knowledge to serve my community and help Ghana advance digitally.

What I want to do with my life...

My goal is to become a skilled ICT educator who empowers students with digital skills while contributing to technological development in underserved areas. I plan to begin my career by teaching ICT in junior and senior high schools, where I can help young people build the practical knowledge they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

Beyond the classroom, I am passionate about working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community development projects to expand access to technology in rural communities. Many areas in Ghana still lack basic digital infrastructure and educational resources, which limits opporutnities for young people. I hope to partner with NGOs that focus on digital inclusion, including organizing workshops, training sessions, and resource centers that bring ICT education to remote areas.

In the long term, I dream of establishing a community based ICT hub that provides free training in computer literacy, coding, and safe interenet practices. This center would serve students, teachiners, and adults who want to improve their digital skills for personal growth, business, or further education.

I am confident that with the proper education, I can make a meaningful contribution to my community by using technology to bridge the digital divide, improve lives, and support Ghana’s broader goals for development and innovation.
