What I intend to study...
I grew up in a village where we have no electricity and we have to resort to oil lamp. Even though it eventually came, most of the households in the village are not able to afford it, including my family. This has pushed me harder to pursue this program to come up with an alternative source, such as solar or wind energy, for our household to also shine.
Electronics are the backbone of our appliances and other advanced technologies, so moving forward, I want to realize the power of electricity to mankind. The need for Electrical and Electronic Engineers are in high demand so I’ve decided to study this course to be part of those personnel that working in these services.
After senior high school when doing my background check on which program to study, all the people I encounter gave me similar responses on Electrical and Electronic Engineering as a difficult course that demands critical thinking and problem solving. I love both so I've decided to pursue the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. I want to bridge the gap between the saying that “as for this person he can do it!” For this has been one of the biggest challenges Ghana is facing, especially in my community.
What I want to do with my life...
My intention after my degree is to branch into the renewable energy sector. Africa is a continent that does not need fossil fuel for generating electricity due to the fact that we are blessed with the sun that generate more of solar energy. With the world’s initiative “The World Go Green”, my intention as an Engineer is to move into the renewable energy sector to help solve the world’s problem of which I believe will generate a lot of income.
“When You open a door, make sure you hold it open for the others to enter” was said in one of my lectures. She also said “You climb by lifting others”. These two quotes resonate with my intention of opening the door for the younger generation through my skill, knowledge, and experience especially my community. Because I hope through this, we will be able to eliminate poverty and also to make our community a better place.
